The NLINK OPC to SAP Solution provides

The NLINK OPC to SAP Solution provides a simple, cost-effective and out-of-the-box
product that enables Manufacturing companies to integrate their plant-floor systems to
their SAP systems faster, cheaper and better than would otherwise be possible.
The NLINK OPC to SAP Solution allows manufacturers to perform analysis and reporting
by combining plant control and SAP business data or perform automatic measurement
recording, reporting, analysis and notifications to facilitate Condition Based Maintenance
(CBM). End users can define Measuring Points based upon control system tags, and
create automatic notifications within SAP from sets of user-filtered process control alarms
and events.

Note: NLINK should be installed in a production environment only on the Windows
Server 2003 or 2008 operating systems. In a non-production environment NLINK may
also be installed on the Windows 7 operating system. NLINK may operate perfectly well
on other Microsoft operating systems but they will not be supported by Junot Systems.

The basic installation and setup procedure is as follows:
• Install the NLINK OPC to SAP Solution.
• Use the NLINK OPC to SAP Solution Configuration Module to:

  • o Create one or more Cross Reference Templates, and
  • o Map your OPC tags to SAP measurement points and/or equipment.
• NLINK Management Module to run and monitor the NLINK Server.

Setup the sapnwrfc.ini File
NLINK interacts with SAP using a programmatic library. This library looks for certain
connection information in an initialization file. The file has to be in NLINK Config directory
(default location “C:\Program Files\Junot Systems\Config\”)
A sample files sapnwrfc.sam in the C:\Program Files\Junot Systems\NLINK
Server\CoNNectors.
The sapNwrfc.ini file contains SAP connection information organized into DESTINATION
entries. Each destination specifies one particular method of connection between NLINK
and SAP.
Each destination has a number of parameters that indicate how NLINK should find the
SAP system. There can be any number of destinations in a single sapNwrfc.ini file, as long
as all the destination names are unique.
Some of the connectivity information has to be obtained from an SAP system
administrator. If the SAP GUI is already installed and has a valid connection set up,
connectivity information can be found for TYPE A or B connections in SAP GUI.

Each destination parameter has to be on its own line with an equals sign (=) between the
parameter name and its value. See the sapNwrfc.sam sample file for full descriptions of
the various destination types and their parameters.

TYPE A Destination
If connecting to a specific SAP application server, use a TYPE A destination

Example TYPE A Destination
TYPE B Destination
If connecting to an SAP message server using LOAD BALANCING, use a TYPE B
destination

Example TYPE B Destination
The NLINK OPC to SAP Solution includes a GUI, NLINK OPC to SAP Solution
Configuration Module. It is an easy drag-and-drop way to manage all the necessary
settings. It allows creating mapping between OPC Data Access (DA) or OPC
Alarms&Events (A&E) tags and corresponding SAP Equipment or Measuring Points.
Each mapping includes rules as to how raw OPC DA (or AE) Tag data should be handled
and information on conditions under which Measurement Documents and/or Maintenance
Notifications (Work Orders) should be created in SAP system based on readings from
specific OPC tags.

The Configuration Module will use the provided connection settings from the Configuration
Parameters to query the OPC Server for its tags and the SAP system for its Functional
Locations, Equipment and Measuring Points. Each tree can be expanded and collapsed
by clicking on the values. In order to speed load time, each level of information is retrieved
only as needed.
OPC tags are grouped into folders. The tags are represented with the icon.
SAP Functional Locations, Equipment and Measuring Points are gathered for the
indicated Planning Plant. Functional Locations are represented with the icon,
Equipment with the icon and Measuring Points with the icon. Measuring Points
may be found at the Functional Location and/or Equipment level, depending on the SAP
system configuration.
Drag any OPC tag onto a Measuring Point/ Equipment or vice versa to create a new
Mapping entry.
A Tag can be mapped only once either to Measuring Point or Equipment.
